Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Equipment Exhibition 2009

 

BIRTV is China’s most prestigious exhibition in the industry of radio, film and TV and a key part of China International Radio Film & Television Exposition. It is also the only one of such exhibitions which gains support from China government and is listed number one among the supported exhibitions in China’s 11th Five Year’s Developing Plan of Culture.

 

 For 20 years since its foundation, BIRTV has grown to be the best show of this kind throughout China and even in Asia. This statement is proven, by the quality and number of products and items being exhibited; by the continuous support from the top exhibitors and manufactures and by the huge number of professionals and interested visitors. In BIRTV2007, 426 companies from home and abroad showed their latest equipments and technologies in an exhibiting area of 50000 square meters. More than 55000 attendees mainly from Radio and TV stations of various levels in China, neighboring countries and even Europe or America visited the show.

 

 With the 2008 Olympic Games around the corner, it’s safe to say HD will figure prominently in China’s broadcast landscape even after this year’s event. Apr 21, 2009 - A group of broadcast and cable engineers in Hong Kong have formed the newest chapter of the Society of Broadcast Engineers. The board of directors of the Society approved the group’s charter application during its meeting Sunday morning.

Hong Kong SBE Chapter 144 is the 113th active chapter of the Society. 23 broadcast engineers and technicians have already become members. The chairman of the new chapter is Lam Kwok Luen, vice president of broadcast and engineering operations for I-Cable.  Vice chairman of the chapter is Thai Ka Ho. Serving as secretary/treasurer is Wong Wai Ming Eric. The chapter meets on the first Tuesday of each month.

Upon the affirmative vote by the Board to approve the chapter’s charter, SBE President, Barry Thomas, CPBE CBNT said, “We welcome our friends and professional colleagues in Hong Kong to the SBE and look forward to their participation.”

The SBE has more than 5,700 members in 113 chapters across the United States and in Hong Kong. There are also members in more than 20 other countries.
